I wish I had a TIME MACHINE!!
Well a chain of events has happened in last few days which has turmoiled my mind exercising all 6 degrees of freedom and compelled me to express myself on AIRTEL.
The post has some mechanical engineering, Although design has lot of Mechanical Engineering involved in it but as always there is always a philosophy or some principles involved, I would try to keep my writing pretty neutral for better understanding.
I am caught between two professors--
Professor I: I was working with a professor in industry earlier and i was responsible for a component's design. The objective was the component should serve its intended purpose. He told me some priorities, we call Pa
Professor II: We are nowadays learning about Design of components, aspects, theories to consider, materials to be selected, equations to solve and test to be conducted. Failure Analysis is a subject where failed components are investigated to find the reason and henceforth prevention of failure in future. We were looking at a design concept of a component and he was discussing priorities to consider for design, we call Pb
Lists for Pa & Pb are long, primarily both told me same content - cost, time, optimized design, only the order was different.
Pa: Time-->Cost-->Optimized design
Pb: Optimized design-->Cost-->Time
We can see in a very simple manner just playing with the priority order, the total meaning has changed. It's a race - industry tells us and learn to run. I want to ask do you guys find yourself in this situation often?
We were taught at the university earlier too take care of equations of design and proper tests of course keeping in mind the cost and time. The same thing is told to us in the industry but in a blanket of time & cost, where literally i forgot the priority list. We were taught just as Doctors, Engineers carry a huge responsibility because life depends on our structures and designs, still when we landed up in the 'Corporate' the blanket of cost and time was already on. I mean nobody tells the doctor to make an inception in body at double the speed, because there is another patient waiting.
Then why Engineering? Has this profession taken more technical advancement compared to others so there is a huge competition and so called 'rat race'. or People have themselves disregarded and fallen prone to 'Cost & Time'. Industry told me to work for 'Customer Satisfaction', but keeping the 'costs' minimum :)
Well some people argue that customers will not pay if the product is too slow to launch and costly, that seems quite a reasonable argument, but we forgot that damage that a failure of component can cause to somebody's life. The damage then is irreversible...
I am not against Management and its principles, but somehow this subject has dominated in all fields, people including engineers now look to find solutions in the field of management, the measurement or quality of design is measured by principles of management. This is a pathetic situation and leads nowhere.
I wish i had a Time Machine and i was able to fix it.......!

Mercedes Benz Museum!
My MS in Germany has started! so far great as Germans say Wunderbar!!!
We had seen this day in our september's schedule! when we arrived in Esslingen, Everybody was excited and waited for the day and finally, Yesterday We visited Mercedes Benz Museum..
I will not post the history here because it's available on various sites, but what i intend is to take you what i saw from my eyes!
Just two stations next to my town is Neckar park (Mercedes Benz) station. It's the headquarters of Daimler AG and location of Museum.
Read the below text which laid the foundation of a new revolution in world!
After the invention of Engine, they motorized almost all carriages on land, water, and air...
And It is History what happened after that, World had got a new mobility opition and indeed these comanies reacted to the demand.
The Museum is built on seven floors, you start at the top floor where it starts with a Horse :-) as an ancient mode of transport! and thereafter it takes you through all inventions in a spiral building as you start to descend floors!!!
All the photos are uploaded in the following gallery (the photo gallery is in reversed order!)
It starts with the pictorial representation of earlier times without motorized carriages and then as these machines were invented, how the world changed!
All the machines are kept in chronological order and some are protos and some are originally made and preserved till date...
The spiral route takes you through the important events in the History and how that impacted the automobile manufacturing in Germany, imagine from the year 1860 or so a lot have happened in world and esp. Germany which saw many dramatic turn arounds..
Scaling down the floors you come across the history of Daimler in Racing sport! The CAR which won 5 races and has never aborted the race due to mechanical failure is dispayed in ORIGINAL!!!!!!
The latest Mercedes Benz Formula 1 cars and their latest models were on display.
The design studio and product life cycle of the vehicle in a Mercedes Benz was on the display.
Among the other highlights which were displayed on each floor were different categories of automobile like
1. The story of a girl named Mercedes who never saw a Mercedes car and would'nt have imagined the popularity of Brand.
2. The invention of supercharger and turbocharger which made the high speed cars possible.
3. How the events in history created demand for vehicles and what were the answers of Daimler to them!
4. The Famous Mercedes Benz cars owned by celebrities..
5. First proto of Modern Automobile and its Structure!!!!
6. The original sketches and drawings of engines and vehicles
7. Antique Mercedes models
8. Cut section of a Formula 1 vehicle!!
9. Latest models and concept vehicles
10. Customer centre (where i took a feel of sitting inside Mercedes :-) )
The sports section shown in the photos is not often opened, it was opened when we were there!
Was indeed a great experience and tiresome journey back to my room :-)
Enjoy Photos

The Money Exchange @ Chandigarh
I am in my final days of my preparations for leaving to Germany, for the same I went to Chandigarh for money exchange to euros! Here's a anecdote for that--
My mamaji had been very much involved with my career details and he supports me with whatever he can, He is the one who is telling me from beginning not to settle abroad.
My mamaji went with me for money exchange yesterday and i had a incident worth sharing!,(read mamaji's lines in a punjabi accent)
We were riding on an activa with mamaji continuously speaking wid me.
Mamaji - "Shunty Beta bahut bahut mubarakaan, mehnat saffal hogi teri te tere papa mummy di
me - Haan ji mamaji, dekhte hain kya banta hain.
Mamaji - haan puttar waqt balwaan hain te rabb da nam lette raheen.
me- Ji
Mamaji - Ik gal palle band le bahr settle hon ni naan sochein - thoda kamaa leaayengaa but waapis aana apne desh ..ch hi hega ( he might have told me ~ 50 times since last six months :-) )
me - Ji"
We reached Sec 32, and went to a currency exchange outlet, and asked for 500 Euros, he said please pay 30K rupees, I had 70 notes of `500/- first I counted then mamaji and we paid him that bunch of ~ 5-8 cms tall rupee notes!
He went inside, came after 5 mins with few(mind here FEW) papers rolled in his hand, and handed me 7 notes of different denominations. These were 500 euros.
(Holding those 7 notes in my hand instead of 5 cms thick 500 notes, i first time experienced and realized the difference in economy so closely)
Mamaji with an amused gesture took Euro notes from me and had a deep look at those notes, asked him - "kamm ho gyaaa", i replied haan ji!
We came out and he said, "Shunty bass ee satt note dete hain isne, aiye hi 500 euros", I nodded
We walked till our activa in a silence,
Upon reaching there he had a grin on his face, he returned me the Euro notes,
and said "Shunty koi madi gal bhi ni haegi agar ttu Ik saal foreign laga bhi aaanda hai to"
I looked at him and we both burst into laughter!!!!!

The Change
I also wondered where did I disappeared after promising that i would "AIRTEL", today i realized i was lost in the CHANGE.
I m out of my first phase of professional life and suddenly found myself back to the same place I was 7 years ago, helping my parents in their individual capacity. I loved doing that earlier and a change tht came due to my Engineering and then a job i lost touch. After so many years today, i found myself doin tht stuff again.
We manufacture and distribute Boxes in which sweets are packed and sold to customers, we supply the empty boxes (fully manufactured at our end) to halwaiisss!
Nw next is vry interstin what is wanted to share, I was helpin my parents with this DABBA MAKIN earlier also! but today when i did the same work after spending my 3 years in a Manufacturing industry, i derived a analogy.
What we have here is a Manufacturing Unit (Fully fledged)
- Dabba wala kamra (jahaan dabbe banate hain) - Manufacturing Unit
- Name of the above - pradhaan ji ka kiraaye waala kamra - Bansal Sweet Boxes Ltd.
- Maal aa gaya gaadi main - Supply Chain (raw material from vendors)
- Rakhi season ki demand - The Manufacturing schedule for August Month
- All my Family members, buaa ji,Mira Aunty, babloo and all seasonal helpers - Company's Employees
- Gupta sweets ne special cover maanga hai - 'Customer Specific' approach in business.
- dabbe bhand ke uppar kamre main rakh do - Extra Storage Warehouse
- ek list bana le shunty dabbon ki - Inventory Management
- Dabbe rakhi se teen din paehale jaayenge - Despatch Schedule from 'Sales Yard
...to be continued with photos

Welcome - The 'NAME' Mystery
Dear Readers!
Before I begin, I want to share the mystery of 'title' and 'and 'URL link' of my blog. I was thinking of starting to post from quite a some time but as always we find some excuses to cover up our laziness i have come up with this one :-)
Whenever I had happened to browse any blogging site, i find people giving extraordinary names to their blogs, only dictionary gave me the meaning of the title. My earlier attempts to register @ blogspot always terminated on the webpage when the website asked me to give blog a name :-)
People who know me can acknowledge that I hadn't been a writer or some extrovert personality, hence i wanted to give my blog a 'WORD' that meant "expressing or sharing one's thoughts and feelings", hence started my journey :-)
Of course i couldn't find a word for my sentence, but in the journey to find that word, I browsed through many websites, dictionaries, thesaurus and learnt quite different words and meanings :-) and now i believe more in the saying

AIRTEL as we all know has been one of the most successful branding campaigner, and I want to share my thoughts with you all, hence AIRTEL, and i m sure now you'll know what is www.lriate.blogspot.com airtel was not available to register :-( , hence LRIATE, an anagram.
Dears using this blog i wanted to share my thoughts, opinions with you, expect this blog to be technical too as my passion drives me, My passion, which is my interest in Automobile, Engines and Mechanical Engineering will also take major posts, besides I contain variety of opinions in me always open for discussion.
